I have been screening for breast cancer through BreastScreen SA for over 22 years.
My first mammogram dates back to 1996. I do it because it is important for me to know that I'm healthy and I want to be around for my loved ones.
I share this with you as I want to encourage all Aboriginal women to make their health a priority. Young and older women should be breast aware and not ignore any breast symptoms. Visit your GP or local health clinic if you have any breast concerns and talk about the best time to start screening.
Breast cancer can be treated successfully if found early.
BreastScreen SA has female radiographers and the X-ray only takes 10 minutes. Women can make their own appointment by phoning 13 20 50 - it is a free health check and it could save your life.
Please, just do it!
