Risk factors
There are a number of factors that can increase your individual risk of developing breast cancer.
These include personal factors such as:
- being female
- ageing
- if you’ve had a previous diagnosis of breast cancer
- your family history
- your individual breast density.
There are also lifestyle factors that contribute towards your risk that you can actively manage and lessen. These risks include:
- your diet
- how often you exercise
- if you smoke regularly
- if you drink alcohol.
If you want to assess your individual risk, you can speak with your doctor.
